Immigration Programs Division delivers the permanent migration and temporary visa programs to maximise the long-term economic and social benefits to Australia across the Skilled, Family and Refugee, and Humanitarian visa programs as well as through Temporary entry to support tourism, education, and international relations.  

Caseload Risk and Integrity Program Overview
Offshore integrity teams, in collaboration with integrity teams in Australia, are part of a global caseload risk and integrity network. The primary role of the Caseload Risk and Integrity team is to identify tactical, entity or caseload specific risks in the programs being processed in a specific location.

 

About the Position

Under general direction, the Senior Locally Engaged Integrity Officer (LEIO) works to established policies and procedures to analyse visa and citizenship caseloads in line with the responsibilities of the integrity unit.  Working as part of a team of two, the position is responsible for managing the identification and reporting of risk and integrity issues related to a broad range of visa caseloads in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey.  

The key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide support to the Principal Migration Officer (Integrity) and visa program decision makers to promote knowledge of caseload integrity priorities and practices.
  • Provide high-level support to Home Affairs Australia-based staff and promote a good understanding of Australian government and community expectations within the office.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with local authorities and key stakeholders.
  • Undertake targeted integrity assurance tasks, analyse information to identify common characteristics or trends within caseloads and report on outcomes. 
  • Identify and escalate risk-based caseload trends to assist visa decision makers in the identification of future risks and assist with managing the delivery of visa referrals. 
  • Update systems to allow visa program decision makers to manage their caseloads with the appropriate level of risk.
  • Support the development and review of risk alerts, profiles and models for visa caseloads.
  • Prepare and disseminate fraud profiles, integrity alerts and trend analysis reports.
  • Foster and maintain strong working relationships with visa delivery teams and provide training for visa processing teams as required.
  • Undertake field visit trips, and prepare associated reports and analysis as required.
  • Prepare for and undertake interviews, including sensitive client interviews, record notes, develop recommendations and provide translation and interpreting services as required.

 

Qualifications/Experience

Essential:

  • An understanding of the Department’s visa, processing and integrity systems or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • The capacity to interpret and apply legislation and policy to support strong integrity processes. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships at a working level and mentor and guide junior integrity officers.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and Turkish, and the ability to interpret and translate between these languages.
  • Well-developed analytical skills, including the ability to assess and analyse data.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel to analyse and interrogate data. 
  • Ability to set priorities and organise workloads to achieve outcomes and meet deadlines.
  • High degree of personal drive and integrity, and the ability work flexibly and adapt to changing requirements.

Desirable:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience working in a similar role.
  • Client service experience.
  • A strong understanding of integrity issues impacting on a visa office.
  • Ability to deliver training confidently and effectively.
  • Arabic, Dari, or Farsi language skills.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

B.    Experience using multiple resources to identify risks, prepare reports and present findings to senior management in an appropriate manner.

C.    Effective decision-making skills with the ability to exercise good judgement when applying legislation or policies to meet integral business objectives in a timely manner. 

D.    Ability to work independently, setting objectives and managing competing priorities and delivery standards autonomously with adaptability in changing circumstances.

E.    Capacity to build strong working relationships with clients and team members offering them excellent service and mentoring respectively.

F.    Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, in particular Excel, plus ability to learn new systems quickly and efficiently.
